Friday 20th November 2009 saw the launch of a new and exciting event in Just Soul, the pure Soul Music night at Ye Olde Bell Hotel, Barnby Moor, Retford.
Soul folk came in droves, from all parts of the UK, to be a part of a very special occasion. The music was top drawer, the venue superb and the atmosphere out of this world. The second event was even busier and the night was a massive success. So, now we have three under our belts, we are looking to continue with more Saturday dates for your calendar. Next date:-

Background
We'd been talking about doing something for years, where the music policy is not seen as Northern Soul, not Modern Soul, not Crossover but... Just Soul!
A place where the Heroes are the people who made the Music. A place where Real Soul is centre stage, not 'hived off' from the main room into some distant 'connoisseurs corner'. A place where all decades are catered for by DJ's who are able to pull together the finest tracks from a rich legacy of music spanning over 40 years - up to and including the very best in contemporary Soul - all in one room!
What's on offer is an evening of high quality Soul music, taking place in one of the most stunning and atmospheric venues in the UK - something that a true Soul Music lover would want to frequent and relish!
Ye Olde Bell Hotel - Perfect for Just Soul!
The Venue
The venue is the former home of the superb, progressive and long running Northern Soul Allnighter Lifeline.
We were given the blessing of the Lifeline promoters to take on the venue after the Allnighter had outgrown the room and found it necessary to relocate to larger premises in the midlands. We salute you Gentlemen, extend to you our sincerest gratitude and wish you continued success in your new home.
The Hotel is perfect for what we are doing - a high quality environment, with superb accommodation, access via Major road links from all parts of the UK - we figured it was just right for a grown up audience who want to hear, high quality, grown up, real Soul music, with none of the stuff that tends to get in the way of the quality of the music.

Frequency
It is our intention to stage 3-4 events per year, trying to avoid clashes with other nights, but taking whatever nights the Hotel can spare (it's a very popular location for Weddings and Business events). Needless to say, we kicked off on the only available weekend night, which happened to be a Friday, however, because of the success of the opening night, we've managed to secure a few Saturday dates for 2010 - so thank you for helping to make the night a huge success!

Music
Musically, we've been joined by a couple of real Soul Music heavyweights in Kev Briscoe and Ian 'Bully' Bulloch.
These two fellas have great taste in the real stuff and take up the early hours to set the standard for the evening. We're proud and very pleased to have both of them on the DJ team.
The four of us will be digging deep to bring you the very best in authentic, American, Soul Music from across the decades. Quality standards are everything, so there'll be no dodgy Jazz, no Pseudo Soul, Latin Pap, Unsoulful House, Modern 'Dance' or Poppy Stompers. Rarity and scarcity are not the criteria at this event but you will certainly hear high quality underplayed genuine Soul music, various exclusives, the criminally ignored and potential future classics from all eras.
